Leon Bridges Is Finally Coming To South Africa
There are some artists you listen to. Then there are artists whose music feels like it has always been there. Leon Bridges is bringing that feeling to South Africa for the first time ever, with two special shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town this November.

The Grammy-winning Texas-born singer will kick off his South African run at Marks Park in Emmarentia on Saturday, 28 November, before heading to Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Cape Town on Monday, 30 November.
And honestly, the timing could not be better.
Bridges is arriving just after the release of his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, which drops on 25 September via Columbia Records. The 12-track album is produced by J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto of Jungle, bringing together Bridges' soulful vocals with Jungle's unmistakable groove.
The new record is a slightly different side of Bridges. The warmth and vintage soul that made Coming Home such a standout are still there, but this time the music leans further into movement, funk, Afrobeat, Brazilian rhythms, disco and contemporary R&B. It is the kind of record that sounds made for long afternoons, warm nights and, naturally, a live crowd.
You might know him from “River,” “Coming Home,” “Smooth Sailin’” or “Better Man”, but Bridges' career has moved well beyond the throwback soul sound of his debut. Albums like Good Thing, Gold-Diggers Sound and Leon have seen him continually expand his sound while keeping that unmistakably smooth Leon Bridges voice at the centre.
And this isn't just another international artist passing through.
Bridges has said that he has wanted to play South Africa for a long time, making these two shows his first opportunity to finally bring the music here.
Johannesburg, we're getting a proper lineup.
The Marks Park show will feature Johannesburg's own BCUC and Wandile Mbambeni, with more guests still to be announced. Tickets start at R795, excluding booking fees.
Cape Town gets its own special moment at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, with Msaki joining the lineup. Tickets start at R995, excluding booking fees.
Both shows are being presented by BreakOut Events, which has more than 15 years of experience bringing international artists to Southern Africa.
So if your idea of a good Saturday involves live soul, good music, an outdoor setting and hearing one of modern R&B's most distinctive voices in person, this one belongs on the calendar.
